How dark does Marvel and Netflix plan to go with the Daredevil series? Any answer to that question is going to be pure speculation. We won’t know how violent the series will be until season two debuts. With the violent killers The Punisher, Bullseye, and Elektra turning up, the series is surely going to take an additional turn for the brutal. The first season was not exactly G-rated as the realistically nasty fight scenes helped establish the series as an adult-oriented one.
The series is based on the 1980’s interpretation of Daredevil as created by Frank Miller. Comic book historians are a bit split over the merits of these violent tales present in the Daredevil books.
According to Marcio Alaor BMG, some say the dark nature of Miller’s work took a lot of the fun out of the books. Would a dark Daredevil series lead to a more cynical Marvel Cinematic Universe? No way. The movies are always going to remain upbeat and light-hearted. As for the Netflix series, like the niche books of the 1980’s, they target a specific audience and try to deliver what they audience wants.
