Dr. Rod Rohrich has been on the forefront of developing new surgical procedures and techniques to be used in plastic surgery. He works with a great team that is focused on perfection in taking care of patients, education, and research. The twenty years that he used to work for the plastic surgery department at the University of Texas placed the department at the core of the modern advancements in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Rohrich’s research and experience have gone a long way in improving the effectiveness and the safety of plastic surgery. Some of his research includes understanding the aging of the face, enhancing face rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, breast surgery as well as other procedures.
His efforts have been recognized both at national and international levels. He has received numerous awards through the course of his career.
He received the Rod J.Rohrich, M.D distinguished professorship in plastic surgery and wound healing. The award was from an appreciative patient who Dr. Rohrich had treated. The patient was involved in an accident and was burnt severely. Dr. Rod performed twenty-five reconstructive surgeries on the patient in fifteen years. Rohrich was dedicated to this patient thus helping him have a normal life.
As at December 2014, Rod had been voted in the D Magazine as one of the best doctors in Dallas for the eighth time. In 2014 also, he was named as the Tx Monthly super doctor.
Dr. Rohrich was the youngest to be ever appointed as president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. It is the largest society of certified plastic surgeons. He was also the chair of Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Rhinoplasty Society and the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Rod was the director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is one of the founding members of the Board of Governors of the National Endowment of Plastic Surgery.
In 2002, Dr. Rohrich received the award of the Simon Fredricks best panelist from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In 2005, Dr. Rod, together with his UTSW team won the scientific essay award. This award was from the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. By 2013, the United States world report acknowledged him among the top 1% of physicians in the U.S.A.
