The Honorable Thomas M. Sipkins signed a court order at the beginning of August that officially anoints Francisco Guerra IV as the Co-Lead Counsel in the case of In Re: Syngenta Litigation. The news was first reported on PR Newswire and hardly comes as a surprise given the fact that his law firm has already handled a great deal of Syngenta related cases. The action will allow for the multidistrict ligation to take place in MDL No. 591 which is pending at the District of Kanas US District Court right now before the Honorable John W. Lungstrum. Guerra has already drawn up and executed a Joint Prosecution Agreement that is in place with the MDL team.
According to SuperLawyers, Frank Guerra is a member of the Plantiff’s Executive Committee and will now act as the Co-Lead counsel for the plaintiffs as well. He commented that he I very pleased and honored to have been chosen to represent American workers and businesses and in particular the farmers who have been affected by the trial. He went on to explain he grew up working on his family’s farm so he is aware of how the corn market price drop has dramatically affected farmers across the US. He closed his statement by saying that his firm is concentrated on making sure that Syngenta pays for damage they have done to farmers.
As mentioned, Guerra’s law firm, Watts Guerra LLP, has already filed several national litigations such as the Pradaxa injury and death cases which Guerra’s partner Mikal Watts filed. The case against Pradaxa resulted in a payout of $650 million for all of the people affected. Mikal Watts acted as counsel in the case and crusaded for the American workers and people until they received what they were owed. He has a long history of effectively fighting for the people.
Now Guerra aims to get the same type of justice for those that have been negatively affected by Syngenta who is blamed for the sudden drop in corn prices which has caused the economic downfall of many American farmers across the country.
