Still No Confirmations for Star Wars: Rogue One

Just the fact that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is coming out in December is enough to excite many fans. Even more exciting is what else is in store for the larger Star Wars universe.

The first part of this universe is adding an anthology spin-off movie to the series, the first one being named “Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One,” which is set for release in 2016. The spin-off is set to be directed by Gareth Edwards, who directed “Godzilla,” and written by both Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz stated CrunchBase.

“Rogue One” is supposed to take place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope” in terms of setting, though closer to “A New Hope” and actress Felicity Jones is going to star in the movie. Unfortunately, Jones is the only known cast member confirmed for this movie, though other names including Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed have popped up. Ben Mendelsohn was another name that was reportedly attached to the project, and was supposed to be the primary villain in the film.

According to a media report, it was something that he had discussed and was waiting for a specific date to begin casting but none of that had occurred yet. Interesting because production for the movie is supposed to start during the summer and with no confirmation on it could cause trouble during production.
