The Chainsmokers consists of two guys Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart who create electronic dance music for the general public. They are Americans who originated from New York City. In 2012 the duo released original songs on SoundCloud to get noticed by the certain crowd of people who like their style of music. In December 2013 their single “#Selfie”, became a huge hit peaking on the music charts. The song was life changing for the duo which allowed them to be recognized and increase their reputation within the music industry. In April 2015 The Chainsmokers signed with Disruptor Records. Disruptor Records is a joint venture label with Sony Music Entertainment. The music duo released many hit songs with the record labeled they signed with. The Chainsmokers performed at many music festivals across America for their supporting fans. On November 4, 2016 they released their second album called “Collage.” On January 13, 2017 the duo released am international single “Paris.” It became a solid gold hit in the US and Canada. The Chainsmokers are ranked the third highest paid DJs on Forbes magazine. They earned $38 million in 2017. Collaborations with famous music stars has brought even more attention and success for The Chainsmokers.


Now The Chainsmokers are superstars and are producing a new era of music for their fans. Their new songs from now are going to be darker to resemble the current generation of society. Also, it will be a reflection of the duo’s own lives. They were on a 9-month hiatus for producing a song. They are allowed to not put out a song for so long because of their unique situation with their record label. After 9 months they released “Sick Boy,” which became the first song The Chainsmokers created with a darker tone.
