If we stop at the finish line and look back at the path we walked we can clearly see the obstacles that helped shape who we became. Nothing could be further from the truth of this when studying the life of entrepreneur, lobbyist, businesswoman, mother and wife Andrea McWilliams.
The Austin, Texas native raised not far from the capitol building itself has had a very influential life in both politics and philanthropy. Her and her husband Dean worked together to create a government affair consulting firm where they now run that operation as a team, it is called McWilliams. This company works with many political affiliates to help manage some of the local, state, and federal politics associated with their clients.
She started out at the age of 21 as a Chief of Staff, but that would be nothing compared to her ventures later on in life. As a mother of three boys, Andrea found out she had breast cancer just a week before she found out she was pregnant with her third child. She went on to beat cancer, have a baby, and has been in remission ever since.
Andrea has been responsible for being a part of and has founded and co-founded several charities. Some of those charities include the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, KillCancer, the Mamma Jamma Ride, and Austin’s Dancing with the Stars event. There are several other foundations for which she volunteers for, and helps bring her notoriety too.
Part of the political efforts that she has been affiliated with during her career has been as a lobbyist. Part of what the team at McWilliams does is participate in a Republican/Democratic duo of lobbyists between Andrea and her husband Dean. Having backgrounds with both political parties helps their clients with various political affairs.
